- From 25 September the so long waited NEWS concerts will start in Tokyo. Yamashita-kun is walking around the Tokyo Dome, where he doesn't step on the stage since quite 2 years. Walking to the streets that soon will be full by NEWS fans he tries to imagine the scene of the stage.
"Tokyo Dome's stage is obviously different from all the others. It has a long story of many artists and it can gather more people than any other stage"
The artists who can perform there are very important. Inside this esclusive group there is also NEWS' name but it seems that he doesn't see that as a natural fact.
"Our first concert was only for around 1000 people, being able now to put on a show for 50000 people is a big happiness"
But still the Tokyo Dome wasn't his aim. Putting all his efforts on his job he goes on running like in a dream, who knows where he will arrive. He stood on the Tokyo Dome's stage for the first time with NEWS and he was fully inspired by its atmosphere.
"It was the first time we experienced the scene of that big number of people all waiting for our entry. We were so nervous and we trembled for the excitement in all our body. I think that it's impossible to understand those feelings if you never stepped on a stage. It was something I could only imagine until then to me too"
To Yamashita-kun there isn't any particular thing to do before a concert.
"In those cases, there's always something different. Just listening to music. Just listen to the right songs matching to your mood"
Even if he doesn't have nothing to do before concerts, there is a thing that he has to do when he stands on the stage.
"Make the fans enjoy the show"
Everybody should wait with big expectation over their imagination for the next concerts.
- During middle school there was a mall with big glass windows where he went to dance with friends. He went there everyday, in the end he became friends with the workers.
There isn't other place he'd like to visit again like his high school's classroom. Going to the karaoke box after school was funny too. Thinking back to all this made him very nostalgic.
"But right now I want to think only to the present. I want to be free and show a lot of good performances in the next concerts."
He wants to go on living just as he was before and how he'll always be.
Shige
- Born in Osaka but he spent his childhood days in Yokohama. But for Kato Shigeaki the hometown isn't neither of those cities.
"The hometown is the place where you spent more time, the one that planted his roots inside you the most. Thinking like this, my hometown can't be any other place but Shibuya. From the elementary school time I used to go to NHK for my first activities with Jr. My middle, high school and university too were all in Shibuya"
For example during the middle school the big building of the Shibuya cross tower was fondamental.
"When during the exams' period school ended earlier I used to go to the konbini to but cup ramen, we all had lunch on the terace of the building. Near to it there's the relief of Ozaki Yutaka. The song "Juunana sai no chizu" was written watching the setting sun from there. It was so cool when we were students (lol)!!"
The seventeen years old Kato-kun under the setting sun used then to go to the near park.
"Going there I could find some of my friends everyday and then we decided where to go next. We went then to the park or there were days when we just hang around creating little gags (lol)"
When the day was over maybe some love stories born too <3
"The park was obviously a romantic place without the street lights so of course there were some stories like those too. Like "Oi, today he has a date with XX at the park so let's try to avoid the place for tonight!". So nostalgic!"
- A CD shop at the Shibuya center closed its activities this summer. It was one of Kato-kun's favourite places.
"In reality until high school I used to rent CDs. When I had the debut during the 1st year though I started to think that I had to buy them. I also started my radio show, I had a corner in which I recommended songs so I went to the CD shop to research them. That hobby became more and more funny that in the end I got used to go there each week"
Now the shop is closed and Kato-kun can keep it only in his memories.
- Shibuya is still the place where he gathers with his old friends.
"Often me and my friends go to a bar in Shibuya center and we do bottle keep (lol). Speaking about it, two days ago too I went to drink with friends in Shibuya! I guess that even in 10, 50 years I'll be still wandering around Shibuya..."
Only them for now because this interview is kinda boring and I'm lazy XDD
