-You met for the first time more than 10 years ago. What changed and what didn't?
K: When I first met Shige I thought he was pretty sharp, now he's even more.
M: True. When I saw him the first time I thought "Here comes the elite kid". He was the kind of guy who gets an interview as soon as he enters the agency, right?
S: I guess you're right. Well, I was shorter than Massu back then, until the debut (lol).
K: Shige was my shinme since the beginning, at first I didn't know anything about dancing in symmetry so I thought "Why I'm always with this kid?" (lol) He looked smart, he had this snarky way of talking...
M: Right! He had that "smart boy" aura!

M: I met Tegoshi a lot of time after meeting the others.
T: True. At first I thought that Shige was very athletic.
M: Pfff! (burst into laughter)
T: I'm serious! It's true!
S: Hey, come on~ (lol) Well, it was a false impression.
K: It was because he had a smart look, right?
T: Yes, he was, amazing!
M: Really? I just need to see Shige walking that I immediately think "He must run so slow!" (lol)

S: And then we debuted as NEWS...
K: Me and Shige were in the same group since Junior time, we were good friends already and we were really happy. We used to talk so much at the phone. We even had matching clothes (lol).
S: We had matching shirts, right (lol).

T: We could go only to family restaurants, we couldn't enter bars that sell alcoholics, we were told to not go to karaoke too...I was like "What? High school students don't go to karaoke just to sing?" We were the most followed ones. Once you're 20 there aren't many problems, Shige and I had to be aware of our age until the very last year.
S: I guess so.

-Even Massu who always looks so smily has a side that only the members know...
K: When we were Juniors Massu was Goseki's shinme in "PLAYZONE", I remember I was really impressed when I saw him dancing "It's BAD". I remember I commented with Goseki who was my good friend how good he was at dancing. I would have never imagined to end up in the same group with him. We never even talked. He had the image of always smiling. And he was a good dancer.
M: Write down that he said that! In bold characters! (lol)
S: I can't remember my first impression of Massu~ When I start remembering we were already friends. We had interviews for magazines together, we also worked at "Kinpachi Sensei".
M: Before "Kinpachi" we didn't really know each other.
S: Right. I remember we were quite formal at the beginning. To me you're kind of like an old classmate. I had your contacts but I can't remember us exchanging them (lol).
T: Massu for me was a senpai, but he never treated me expressedly as a kouhai, he was very kind and talked to me as a normal guy. The first time we talked was when we had to sing together. We sang in duet before even talking to each other.
M: Ah~ I guess you're right.
T: We sang together before NEWS, when we debuted we had a very natural relationship.
S: I still remember that once we disputed a lot about the singing.
T: Why?
S: It was about the parting of the songs and the way of singing. Everything was fine to me, I repeated it many times and Massu stuck his tongue out on my face! (lol) Back then I never saw angry Massu, I was surprised to find out where he was more picky.
M: I don't remember it at all~
S: Your face completely changed in a second! I remember I thought "Wow, I'm really not a professional, I'm useless~" Massu was always smiley and kind, I was impressed to see how determined and self-aware he could be.
T: Massu is the most stubborn person I ever met.

S: Didn't you say that you would become a real adult turning 26? I can't tell if you did or not, but lately I feel that Massu turned from being a "boy" to a "man".
K: He's very sexy now. He even says this himself (lol).

[I simply adore how NEWS is formed by "fated" couples. Koyashige together since the beginning without a real reason, Tegomass singing together before even talking! That's wonderful ♥

Tegoshi has the evil character that can make fall every girl, but the members say something shocking about him!

M: He looked really weird but he had that expensive bag (lol). When we had the tour he brought a huge version of the same bag (lol).

S: Usually I don't remember other people's stuff but I remember Tegoshi's so well (lol).
M: We all loved fashion, little by little Tegoshi started to be interested in it too. He started collecting skulls, he wore only skulls everywhere. Like he felt safe with those (lol).
S: Who would have thought that that Tegoshi could go around calling "My kittens~♥" (lol).
K: He, who was a real kitten back then (lol).

M: But he was mentally strong back then too.
K: He was potentially strong but in a group full of older boys he couldn't find the role to stand out more.

K: I was in the 1st year of high school.
M: He entered late but he was like a senpai to many people who worked here since years (lol).
S: He was very friendly even with senpais. I was like "He can talk to him in that way already?" (lol) Back then he was the only one calling Akanishi-kun as "Jin" (lol).
K: Yes indeed, I talked in a very casual way even to the ones who always danced in the front row (lol).

S: I thought we were the same so I asked him "Hey, how old are you?" and I found out he had 3 years more than me. Anyway I didn't fix my words and went on like "Ah, really..." (lol)
M: But well, NEWS weren't that good at talking on stage and Koyama started doing his best during the MC. Everybody tried to avoid talking but Koyama kindly said "I'll do it".
T: I was very stubborn and I thought "If they doesn't step up I won't do it first" but that didn't last long. Keiichan decided to step forward and break the ice.
S: Massu's the same but Koyama always had a productive mind. You'd think one would want to do what he most loves for his first solo, Koyama instead said "I want to do something that the audience will like". I thought he was very adult to think like that.
M: Koyama's really kind, serious and appropriate. He pushes you forward gently telling you everything's fine...but he doesn't always watch where he's pushing you to (lol).
S: I understand what you mean (lol).
M: He came to practice his dancing earlier than anybody else, he worked hard but he never counted carefully (lol).
K: Ahahah! (lol)
S: Even though he was practicing so much (lol).
K: Actually I did that at the Chichibunomiya Stadium too.
T: He mistakes the choreography and he's also bad at hiding it (lol).
M: It's not disappointing, just weird (lol).

-In comparison to other groups, NEWS' activities can be less but they had great peaks too. The most impressive events...
M: For me it would be our first concert at the Tokyo Dome. It was the place I yearned for the most, I was so happy to be able to perform there with my group.
K: For me it's our first live at the Odaiba Meridian. It was our very first time, we didn't have many songs yet, we sucked at the MC...That live was really depressing. And that made it be the live I remember the most.
T: For me it's last year live at the Chichibunomiya. It didn't feel too different when we passed from 9 members to 6. We felt we lost some companions but back then I didn't have the chance to step forward, I really wanted to enjoy the 6-members group. When we became 4 I felt very lost. That's why nothing can't win over that live.
S: Everybody of us agree with that. It was a life-changing experience.
K: We had such sad feelings and we didn't try to hide them from the fans...well, it just happened in reality. We never had a live like that before. NEWS' strength are the fans who saw us like that. It was a meaningful live.
S: The moment I remember the most, looking back at our past, is definitely that day. More than the tour itself, "that day".
K: Moreover, we came back to the Chichibunomiya this year! We created a setlist to make everybody smile, it was a happier and lighter tour.
M: We wanted fans to enjoy it calmly, we just wanted to have fun. We had a central stage, we tried to do everything we wanted to.
T: Last year we had a lot of thoughts, this year we prioritized the fun.
S: We will always remember last year's lives, but we can't stay stuck to them. This year it was a 360° stage, we wanted to go closer to the fans...to be the most united possible. We really felt as one!
K: I felt so relieved seeing the fans' faces again! I was so happy to have another live there~
T: Then we had that suspension because of the rain...I really thought "Gods are sending us so many challenges. They don't want to stop that, uh". Anyway, anytime something like that happens, the bonds between us and the fans get stronger. Thanks to that accident I thought once again that NEWS fans are the best in the world!
K: We felt so bad to take that decision, we saw fans helping the ones who felt sick, it was a shared experience.
M: I thought that NEWS fans are really wonderful and warm.
S: We felt even more united, we overcame so many things all together. Everybody did the possible to come to the live the day after. I hope our bonds will grow tighter from now on too.
-Not wanting anybody to cry anymore, these are the expectations of NEWS for the future! They talked about their dreams...
K: In comparison to other groups we had less concerts and releases, from now on I want to do more and more. First of all, the anniversary even at the Tokyo Dome will be one of our dreams coming true. That was possible thanks to the fans. I wish we will be active so that nobody will ever leave us.
S: I want to have a lot of fun at our 10th anniversary. But that is not a goal, it's a new beginning. I want to go on for other 20, 30 years. Many things can happen but I want to complete them one by one, my biggest hope is to have a great time with all the fans!
M: I cannot really imagine such a distant future (lol), my dream is simply to go on like this.
T: I don't care how, I want to be the number one! The number one group to make fans happy, or the one who can make everybody laugh, everything's fine. Normally one prefers to be the "only one" to the "number one", it's the opposite for me. It's useless to be the only one. I want people to say that NEWS are the group that gives the greatest energy. That NEWS' memebers are the best ones. I know that the hardles will be high, but we can overcome them all, I think we can do it!
K: Finally we found our shape. There are no doubts we will go on like this. Let's aim to be the number ones then!
