I'm kinda late with my movies' post ^^ Anyway April was completed once again! Here it is...
The libertine (3.4) & Immaturi (6.4)
The libertine is one of the few movies with Johnny Depp that I still haven't watched. It was good, Depp's movies are always good, even if the plot is not a big thing I think that his abilities as actor are so high that they can change the movie's review. Anyway this one was nice, I like the English 17th century's atmosphere movies, I love damned poets so...
Immaturi is an Italian movie, I'm sorry for this because I guess nobody can see it even if I recommend it XD Anyway, it talks about a group of 40yrs old friends who must do again the high school graduation's exam. A nightmare. Studying all together again they revive their friendships and fix them. It was a little full of clichès but it was nice to see...too bad that in reality high school friends are assholes LOL.
Easy A (4.4) & Bite me (9.4)
Two comedy movies! Easy A was recommended to me by
varulet , I watched it immediately and I loved it! It was so light and I simply adored the main character. She's a normal high school girl who searching for her bite of popularity makes up stories about herself. The popularity soon turns into bad reputation so she needs a way to tell everybody that nothing is true. It was really funny!
I watched Bite me on TV during a sleep-over at my friend's house, it was around 4am and I had a nice amount of alcohol in my body, I guess everything would be funny like that XD It was the typical American comedy/parody movie. To spend a night with friends it's perfect ^^
The importance of being Earnest (8.4) & A single man (26.4)
Two movies with Colin Firth <3 I already loved him but then Shige said that he's his favourite western actor so...The first is from a comedy by Shakespeare, it was simply brilliant and all the characters were lovely. I highly recommend it, it's a must-see imho!
I watched A single man because Shige quoted it, it was a very good movie. The story of a gay teacher in the 60s in the USA. The man lost his partner and he lives in a deep depression, only helped by his best friend since he can't show anything on the surface. It's a sad sad story, very poetic and impressive.
Faust (14.4) & Sucker Punch (18.4)
Sorry for the first one again XD It's a movie I watched for my university's class of literature, a 1926's silent film. We're studying Goethe's Faust so the teacher made us see this movie, I can't really comment it, it's too old and I'm not a lover of old movies to say my opinion (and nobody of you would care anyway XD).
Sucker Punch...really, one of the worst movies I've ever seen. I don't even know what they wanted to do with it. The idea of the plot could be good: a girl who is wrongly put into a mental hospital where patients are lobotomized, the parallel world that the girl sees after that. BUT, they had to put in all those half-naked *not-even-sure-I-can-call-them-actresses* girls, the big special effects, meaningless fight/action scenes. They were cool...maybe once or twice though, then I started to go fast-forward. So boring.
Phantom of the Paradise (29.4) & Limitless (25.4)
Under the influence of that university's class I told you about, me and my friends were kinda crazy over the whole Faust's tale. So I started searching for medias related to it, that's how I arrived to Phantom of the Paradise, a 70s musical. God saves the trash. I really love musicals, I love vintage movies. This one is a mix between Faust, the Rocky Horror picture show (my favourite movie btw) and many other things...I loved it. It also has real good music in it.
I watched Limitless at the movies :3 It was a while I didn't go there. What to say about the movie...the actor is hot. LOL no, I liked it! The story is original and let's admit it, everyone would love a drug that makes us smart, brilliant, pretty and popular. I recommend it, and in particular notice the colors and the way the scenes were shot, I found them very interesting!
