Happy New Year

Dec 31, 2008 18:51

I've had another wonderfully lazy day, which did include a short (and misguided) trip to Tescos, along with most of the rest of the population of Northampton, it seemed. I've caught up on my LJ reading, and even managed to leave a few comments here and there. Now I'm cooking some tea for E (B has been invited to a sleepover with her friend who lives in the next street) and having a glass of vintage port, before doing some more of the huge giant crossword we've been working on since the Saturday before Christmas. It's got to the stage where I'm going to have to start looking things up in dictionaries, encyclopedias and google. Then there's some dinner to cook for C and myself and a bottle of something fizzy and alcoholic to open (might as well get some of it drunk before we toast the New Year at midnight).

And before I do any of that, I'd like to wish you all a very Happy New Year. I hope that the good bits of 2009 are very good, the not so good bits are made bearable by friends, family and loved ones, and that at least some of your wishes, hopes and dreams come true.

new year
