sometimes I wonder what made me the way that I am. parents, siblings, friends. all college graduates or well on the way there. They have lives where they go places and talk to people and have real jobs where they don't rely on an eighteen year old to give them shifts that only last two hours

College is YOUR CHOICE. You have the choice of wanting to go or not. People should not make that choice for you. If you have no interest you are not going to do well, resulting in a lot of money gone down the tube.
Jobs are very tough to come by right now. Maybe try to freelance. Ask around and see if anybody would want your artistic talents for logos, posters, paintings, etc. Charge $30-$50 a pop. Get a business license and start doing these things if this type of work interests you.
Friends are really hard to come by as well. I was so lonely when I got back here from college. I then started hanging out at my comic shop and met a really awesome group of people- we hang out once a month and just do events/parties. If bars/clubs are not your thing, try hanging out at places that interest you, like bookstores, art supply stores, whatever you are interested in and get to know the owners first. From there, branch out and get to know the customers. This area is all CofC frats/sororities type of people for our age group and it sucks, I know. But there really are people in this area who don't care what school you came from and what you do during your day job- they all have one commonality and celebrate that (if you hung out at a Dollar Store, for example, bad example I know- your commonality would be buying things for a dollar.)
I'm not sure if this helps you much but it's a little bit of what I've learned in the 7 months I've been home full time now.
That's not to say I really want to gtfo of this area asap, but I'm trying to make the most of my stay here.
