I like the pink ribbon that says "save the ta-tas", but TBH, I's wear a shirt to say that even if there wasn't a breast cancer charity thing. In just makes me think of all of those "save the whales" campaigns. SAVE THE TA-TAS.
Heh. See, you and I know you're a cool person who's not a misogynist (yes, women can be misogynists), but in general, I don't like the objectification of women. Objectification for purposes of Teh Sexxeh Sexx is one thing, but reducing women to their body parts in daily life is NOT ON.
You may have a point. I have less of an issue with it. Mostly because I like the idea that we are acknowledging breasts as body parts. anyone who thinks that a person is just a dick or a vag or a breasts is a moron. But we are the sum of our parts, and breasts are lovely and I would rather acknowledge that we have them, and deal with the assholes, then bind them or never talk about them at all. I think this might be an LCD issue.
I wish there was a male equivalent so that I could get a "save the cock" sticker. On the other hand, if there was some sort of penis cancer, I bitterly suspect it would be cured by now.
LCD issue? Like a television or computer monitor? LOL!

There are a LOT of morons out there. Think of all the idiot guys whose entire opinion of a woman depends on whether they think she's "fuckable" or not.
You know very well that I am extremely fond of (and fondle) body parts of all configurations and shapes. And I am as happy as the next fangirl to drool over pix of pretteh boyz with no clothes on. But as far as the kind of anti-cancer campaigns we're talking about, I really don't like the overtones of "even if you don't care about women as people, WON'T SOMEBODY THINK OF THE TITS?"
No no, I mean, LCD=lowest common denominator. Like , in order for us to foster free speech, we have to put up with a lot of bullshit. In order to put tits out there and talk about them openly, we're gonna have to deal with idiots.
I don't mind the ta ta campaign because they have a goal in mind-- they want to save the tits. Well, they want to savce the people behind the tits, but the fact of the matter is they want/need money, and if this is what gets it, I'm down with that.
My viewpoint relies utterly on the fact that I don't find humanity, when left to its own devices, to have very many redeeming qualities at all, so I never expect them to elevate themselves. So I'll lie, cheat, finangle (sp?) and compromise myself in order to get things done.
I think as they cancer campaigns move more into the public, they seem to be treating it as an ad campaign, and that's where we get this objectification. It's like they finally got Brian Kinney to do their ad work.
It's pretty hilarious spending an entire month with half the city's male population having varying degrees of success in growing 70s porn star 'taches. It's certainly put prostate cancer and depression in men on people's radars as an issue.
