Or are you just having fun?
I still say Paula Abdul is underrated as the greatest Pop Star EVER!! Just kidding.
I hope everyone had a good weekend. I did. Nothing much happened, but I did finally go to the beer garden in Astoria for the first time (having lived in Astoria for 4 months already, I can't believe it took me this long to go). It was a completely impromptu thing, where I was called up at midnight, which on a Friday night with no original plans is getting ready for bed time for Josh. I figured since I wasn't really tired, I'd just go. Since it was raining all day prior, the place was not very crowded at all, but it is freakin HUGE. It's a pretty interesting lay-out as well. It is set up to pretty much look like the way movies represent beer festivals in movies (like Beerfest). I am sure on a nice night with a bunch of friends that place can be totally kick ass. Then once they started shutting off the lights as if to tell us they were closing, we went to my friend's place which is right around the corner from the garden, and hung out there until 6:15 in the morning when I started to do my Narcoleptic-Zombie thing I have been known to do from time to time. I haven't been out that late in such a long time, it was a welcome release from what a day friday turned out to be.
Rewind to Friday morning. Woke up late, and got to work about 20 minutes late (everyone else I work with does that, so the only person it bothered was me, who abhors tardiness as much as your worst History teacher [History teachers' being notorious the world over for being tardy-hating adult nerds]). Of course it was raining, and umbrellas do everything but keep you dry in NYC rains (especially thanks to people who keep their umbrellas open under scaffolding (another one of my "People I Can Do Without"), and scaffolding that can't seem to keep the rain out. So I was not only late, but I was very very wet; both factor into a grumpy me. Then of course, my morning started off uneventfully slow, until about a half hour before my lunch break, when I was handed enough work to make sure I was extremely busy until the last minutes of work. Of course it was pay day, and I received tips for most of the work I did, so I managed to kick myself into high gear and knocked all the work out just in time (except for one thing, which I am in the process of finishing this morning because it is not really work), and headed out the door. As I was leaving Tower Records after finally purchasing Season 3 of Arrested Development, a block from my office I saw a cab splash a HUGE puddle of water on people in the median, and I thought "Man, that really sucks for those people, and that is a dick thing for a cab to do". A block later, I was on another median, and what should happen, but I get slashed by a different cab and a bigger puddle. I was going to write an open letter in my journal and add the cab drivers who do that to "People I Can Do Without", which I still do. I don't understand why the driver felt it was necessary to spash myself and the two other people standing in the median with me. Every car AND truck AND bus before him managed to keep me dry as they passed, but he saw me, and the puddle, and I am pretty possitive that he made a concious effort to get us covered in as much dirty, polluted, germ-filled street water as possible. Why would he do this? Was it to entertain the passengers in his cab? Was it to entertain himself? Was it because he hated me for not being in a cab? And that's when it hit me. Perhaps cab drivers do this to drum up business and get people to take cabs on rainy days. But not many people need convincing to do so, so that's probably not it. I think they just assume that since I am not taking a cab, and I am dressed in work clothes, I am cheap, and not poor (I happen to be both). It was just really messed up and made for an extremely uncomfortable subway ride home (not only was I cramped AND wet, but I felt incredibly disgusting from what I knew was most likely in the water that was now all over my body). Then I did my laundry and watched disk 1 of the two disk AD final season...I miss that show so much, and season 3 was so good.
Then nothing else much happened this weekend. However, for anyone who cares, I have two, count them TWO (2) new strips up at
C-M University, so go check them out. I am back and in full swing...hopefully. I put these two up, but really I am finding myself hard-pressed for ideas. I had one while I was getting ready this morning and listening to Q104.3, but that's all I will tell you on that one. Hopefully it will be as funny to you as it is in my head.
I have a new credit card coming to me soon, and in an effort to "boost" my credit, I am thinking of buying me some new clothes, since I still don't have enough shirts that fit me properly, and maybe even on of the new iPods. have you seen these things yet? I cream my pants just thinking about them. Of course, I think if I were to do that, I would also need to upgrade my hard-drive on my computer (perhaps with an external), because i am running out of space fast. iTunes should have a program that turns your mp3's into smaller, yet still excellent files. That would be wonderful.
Coming up this week:
Softball Game out in Long Island (I am not playing, just watching/drinking with others from work)
Softball Game on Roosevelt Island (I am playing, office-al First game of Rockstars II)
Rosh Hashana dinner at Dave & Brooke's, should be Jewtastic.
First Official Day of Autumn (time to whip out the camera and go around Astoria)
Ok, I am actually starting to get work. I should go.
