The really sad thing, is that this is the absolute "tamest" of this sort of film that I could find. This is happening here, in America. The ones from other countries are far worse. They are far crueler, clubbing the animals to death, even skinning them alive. I debated posting them, as well, but they were just so horrible, I couldn't even watch

I shouldn't really encourage you, but I am going to throw out there the fact that just because someone has a different point of view from me I do not hate them. Most people would agree with that statement. In fact, there are very very few people I hate at all. I have to care very deeply for someone before I can hate them.

The only problem I have with your behavior, (not you personally), is the lack of regard you have for Melissa's feelings. I mean, it doesn't even appear you read her post very well based on some of the comments you made. Then you also seemed to miss the point of Jo's post as well. I would say, if you count Melissa a friend, as you stated in your post here, you owe her another read-through with a more open perspective.

Honestly, you made some good points towards the end of your comment and had some genuinely good advice as well. I commend you for those few things for what that's worth to you. I would say stick with that, though, and leave arguing against something that isn't even at issue from a post you didn't even understand alone.

No one hates you. How could they?

The comments were not about Melissa's post, they were more about the actual video and how it is meant to be inflamatory and emotionally misleading. I disagree with the video's message but not Melissa's intent. For fucks sake, I feel bad that the human race has become the virus it has on this planet, but I don't support genocide in any forms.

Extremism is dangerous, propaganda is dangerous, knowledge and discussion are always useful. This was more the spirit of my rant. I'm sorry if it didn't come across this way.

I apologize if I misread the intent of your comment.

I do agree with extreme points of view not always being in the best interest of all involved. The video was made to make a certain point of view be heard in the most emotional way possible because it is an emotional issue to those involved.

Anyhow, in the spirit of knowledge and discussion being useful, I am glad we have shared this knowledge and had this discussion.

Yeah, that was my intent. It was a video representation of the research I had done. I think a lot of the time people don't really think about how things really are until somethng like this opens their eyes.

You think about the poor little critters dying for their pelts and that's sad. You think about them living out their entire lives in tiny cages and that's sad too. But without *seeing* it for myself as I researched it, I had no idea just how bad things were.
