So last night at around 2 AM I checked my voicemail and I recieved a message from a company telling me that I had won a cruise to the Bahamas for 4 days and 3 nights. Back in December I was in a mall near my mom's house and filled out one of those raffle tickets that they set up every so often and forgot about it. Apparently I'm the lucky bastard who won it. So the message leaves me a phone number and a validation code and this morning at 9:30 I called it and it was legitimate. It's a cruise from Fort Lauderdale to Grand Bahama Island for two people and I can schedule it whenever I want. There are no blackout dates and it's not a timeshare in any way. Hotel fare and cruise fare are covered and all I would need to bring with me is spending money. Now here's the catch. I need to provide my own transportation to and from Fort Lauderdale, as well as a $99 international tax fee, and a $75 deposit due in a day. This is all per-person, so it would be doubled. Obviously, I don't have a few thousand dollars to throw around, so I'm not going to be going on this fantastic voyage. The good thing is that it's completely transferrable and I told my mom that if she wants it, she can have it and bring her dog with her (although I don't think she has a few thousand dollars to toss around either). Oh well. I guess this also means that I'll definately never win the lottery, or anything else for that matter, but for an hour or so last night and 20 minutes this morning, it was a pretty novel idea.
Anyway, I bought a few CD's yesterday which I've been listening to non-stop. They made for some fantastic driving music this morning when I drove down here (I'm home for the weekend). Since I've been here I've walked my mom's dog Skye 4 times, played fetch with her for about 2 hours and soldered her lamp back together. Overall, it's been very quiet and very relaxing. I guess I need a weekend away from school as it is. Next weekend my mom and Skye will come up for a weekend and visit, and Meryl and I will go to the senior semi formal saturday night and the museum sunday morning. The good thing is that we can spend all day saturday with her and sunday morning we can get breakfast. Last night I hit level 20 in WOW and felt somewhat accomplished. I've accepted the fact that I've become an addict for the game and decided that the best thing to do is just not fight it and keep playing and dumping $15 a month into it.
Well it's time for me to eat something.
