I had always assumed Starsky's reference to "Me and Thee" came from Genesis 31:49 "The LORD watch between me and thee, when we are absent one from another." But in doing a little research, I came across a quote by Robert Owen, a 19th century Welsh social reformer, "All the world old is queer save thee and me, and even thou art a little queer." Strikingly similar to a phrase spoken by Hutch and finished off by Starsky. I'd never seen this before and was pleasantly surprised. They obviously knew of this connection. A little inside joke?
starsky & hutch,
