No one can live in the light all the time

Name:Alexa

Age:16; 17 in about 2 weeks!

Location: Nevada, USA. Ick.

Are you open to cross-gender votes? sure.

Would you be open to being voted as characters who are not in your age range? Would you prefer to be voted as a character who is within your age range? Any character is fine with me.

1. What are your three defining positive traits? Explain how you exhibit each trait in everyday life.
Observant: I love to people watch, and I usually have a good idea of a person's temperaments. Along with this goes artistic, because I love to draw people, facial expressions, and life. I watch and observe everything and think about them. A lot.
Strong: Nobody can quite get me to give up or affect me very negatively. In the situations of life that usually get a person down, I try not to let it affect me too much, and I move on.
Passionate: mostly about art and learning anything and everything. I love to read, and recently I've been really into politics and history. I also care passionately about my friends and family and would do anything for them. When I belive it something, I fight for it. Bottom line.

2. What are your three defining negative traits? Explain how you exhibit each trait in everyday life.
Stubborn: The negative side of being a "passionate" person, I guess. I try to get people to see my point of view, even if I'm wrong. It's landed me in trouble a few times.
Sarcastic: 'nuff said. Sometimes I just need to shut up.
Paraniod/worrying: I worry abou everything. I freak myself out about little things.

3. If you were studying in Spence, which would be your favorite place? (By the lake, garden, church, caves, etc.) Why?
The lake. I love water. If it was socially acceptable at that time, I probably would jump in and go for a swim. Otherwise, just being around water is relaxing to me.

4. Would you have stolen the wine from the church in order to be in Felicity's group? Why or why not? If you weren't part of their crowd, what kind of clique would you be in, if any? Why?
Yes. The mundane life of school would be reason enough to break the cycle of monotony, and I'm sure I would be anxious to prove myself worthy to these girls. However, I probably would have gotten more freaked out than Gemma did when they locked her in the church.

5. If the Door of Light were to appear in front of you and you were to go into the realms, what would you choose to do in them? What would they be like for you?
I'd want adventure. I'm not sure what kind, but some kind of quest with danger and bad guys and allies and all sorts of epic things. I love the feeling of having a purpose and accomplishing something important.

6. Do you think the power of the realms should be shared by the members of the Order? Why or why not? It depends. I suppose it's impossible to tell who is trustworthy or not, but they can't go handing off power blindly to their sisters because they're in the Order too. It's silly.

7. If you were a woman living in the Victorian Era, what do you think your life would have been like based on how it is now, your ambitions, and place in society? I'd probably be arguing with the men, fighting for rights. I think the world would feel stifling to women. With no ambition, we would just sit and be robots for our husbands. I would want to DO something, instead of sitting there, waiting for life to get better. Unfortunately, I probably wouldn't get anywhere, so I would end up sitting in a street corner doing portraits for people and being a frowned-upon member of society.

8. If you were granted power by the realms and could use it inside and outside of the realms, what would you choose to do with it?
Make the men listen and not be so stupid about women. Equality. Education. I'd probably also play a few well-deserved pranks on enemies.

9. What is your favorite scene (A Great and Terrible Beauty and Rebel Angels combined)? Why?
Any Gemma/Kartik scene. Deep down, I'm a hopeless romantic. I also really enjoyed the exposition scenes of the first book, when we first know the girls and how they establish such an unlikely bond.

10. What is your favorite quote from the books? Why?
"That's what living in their world is- a big lie. An illusion where everyone looks the other way and pretends that nothing unpleasant exists at all, no goblins of the dark, no ghosts of the soul."
Um, it's pretty much amazing. I'm sure there are many other quotes that I quite like, too, but I just began re-reading AGATB, and that one's right at the beginning =P

11. Pick one character among Gemma, Felicity, Ann, and Pippa. Tell us what she (the character you chose) could have done differently. (We are sure you did not agree with their every action.)
ANN. ARG, build a backbone!! Everything she did in AGATB makes me cringe. She needs to stand up for herself! There are tons of things that Gemma, Felicity, and Pippa do that I don't agree with too, but I think Ann's mistakes are really relevant to people of the girs' age group today.

12. Which A Great and Terrible Beauty/Rebel Angels older character would you consider as a good role model? Why? Ms. Moore, but that was before I knew she was psycho-killer lady.

13. Sort these words in order of appeal to you: beauty - glory - security - power - wealth - self-fulfillment - freedom. Explain your answer.
Freedom- freedom to learn and act upon your knowledge is one of the most important things of all.
Power- the power to be heard and respected
security- It's always nice to know you're not going to be squashed in a minute, you know?
self-fufillment- Doing what YOU think is right is really the only way to be satisfied with your actions.
Glory- Let's face it, we all like to be in the spotlight every now and again. However, it's just as good to act anonymously and be glorified in your own mind, not by others.
Wealth/Beauty- not the most important things, but they definitely make a lot of things easier for some people.

14. If possible, please post one or more pictures of yourself here. This is not mandatory, but if you do have pictures, you're encouraged to post them.
