I declared my major and minor today: Major in history, minor in education. What I get to look forward to more of:
Today in history, we discussed British sugar trade of the West Indies in the mid 1800's. Apparently, English sugar was doing well until the Germans found out how to make sugar from beets. English planters never could figure out "The Beet Question" (my prof used this phrase) so the trade suffered pretty bad. This discussion lasted 45 minutes.
In education, we were talking about physical development. The first question addressed to the class was if we were taller than the boys in our class in kindergarten. Then, we watched some terrible video clip about adolescents flirting, and were asked if boys flirted with us like that in middle school. Icing on the cake: we were asked who had seen the movie "Mean Girls", and everyone's hand but mine goes up. I'm a guy, I'm a guy! Please stop asking us to recall what boys were like when they flirted with us. Although Dr. Trail did make brownies for Valentine's Day... ahh, I don't know what to do in that class.
I have to go observe a high school on Friday. It sounds like a way fun time. Not really. I'm not dreading it though... it'll be interesting to be in a class and see what's going on... the stuff you miss when you're trying to get the material.
A boring update... after 3 weeks you'd think I'd have more. I don't. This thing gets less and less interesting with each passing month. Ah well, them's the breaks. Happy Valentine's Day, everyone... I'm off to play a pirate video game. ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!
