Summary: Paul and Tom have a short discussion about homophobia on the Internet.

“Of all the hate stories I read, of all the comments I read about how people want to kill gays and send them to hell, you know what scares me the most?” I asked.
“Worrying they’ll come after you?”
“No. Worrying they’ll come after you. I’ll do everything in my power to protect you.”
I ran a hand along his blond hair and kissed his temple.
“That’s the least selfish thing I’ve heard.”
“Com’on, it’s completely selfish. I want my husband safe.”
“I don’t care what you say. It’s selfless.”
Paul leaned forward and kissed me. “So what’s going on baby?”
“It’s like a car crash. I know I shouldn’t search for homophobia, but I like knowing what I could possibly face. Like, I think I can prepare myself for it.”
“Anything especially startling?”
“Just the overabundance of people who think we woke up one morning and chose to be gay, who think we are deviants looking for attention, who think we need to be saved, who think we deserve to burn in hell because we are purposefully trying to disobey God. I read their solutions to homosexuality, and I think of you, and how there are people out there who wouldn’t think twice before trying to kill you. I love you Paul, and I wouldn’t change a hair on your head.”
“Are you asking for a divorce?”
“Nope.”
I leaned forward and kissed him for a couple of moments.
“Nothing could feel more perfect than that,” I said.
