Wednesday 12th| November| Dark hour

[The Central Business District is never truly empty. Even towards 12am, there are people walking home, or to parties and clubs that run to the early morning. And Mcdonalds, of course, is never shut. But it's pretty quiet where Emily Jane is waiting, sitting on the edge of the platform of a statue commemorating a dog. The Queen Victoria building, towering up next to her, is pretty and Victorian and very closed. To her left across the street, the Galleries Victoria, a big shopping destination, is also very closed. The lights on the Town Hall, across the street to the right and a little way back, are all dim. The four way crossing behind her is practically empty, with only the occasionally car and late night workers coming across. But the streets are well lit, the buses run on the other side of the building until the early morning, and it's a big enough landmark that no one could miss it.

A perfect meeting place.

Emily looks at her watch, impatiently. 11:50pm. Almost time, then...]
