I was just studying my choice of icon for my blogger avatar when it occurred to me just how very different I look from this time last year. This time last year, I looked pretty much the same as I did in my learner's permit photo. Same strawberry blonde hair. Same face. Same blue-gray eyes.
However, I've been bored quite a lot. The results of that are a completely different haircut as well as my hair dyed black.See, when I get bored, I dye my hair. Before it was black, it was green, and before that, auburn.
This time last year. I'm the one on the left in the camoflague, for those of you who do not know me in real life.
Me now.
I might add that I am far happier now, since last year was quite truly one of the worst years of my life. Senior year of high school. Last year. Both pure hell. Everything was going wrong both years.
However, it's over, and this year (I generally start my year counts with September since I have a September birthday) has been amazing thus far.
Just a few great things:
- My racewalking has returned to my high school level! Next goal: kick my teenaged self's ass with speed
- Kate visiting from England. We spent a very fun week and a half in the city. The best part? How happy being here made her!
- Getting to travel to Tennessee for the 5k national racewalk championships. I got disqualified, sadly, but that and Central Park let me know for sure I'm getting there with fitness! Once I return my weight to what it was about 2 or 3 years ago, then I'm really good to go.
- Just having the majority of my closest friends around has helped me tremendously. Friends really do work wonders for depression.
- I can write and be creative!
- I have discovered I like visiting city and living in country best of all.
Anyhow, I have five miles of racewalking to get under my belt (8 mile race in 2 weeks where I PR no matter what because I've never RACED eight miles- let's hope I'm not DQ'd this time!), as well as packing for the city. I am seeing a parody of the Fellowship of the Ring tonight, and then meeting up with
periantari to squee about just how awesome hobbits are!
Later, gators. Peace, love, hobbits, and Potter!
