Attitude and homophobia in the office

I don't understand my collegues, at the end of the day yesterday as I was saying goodbye the accountant asked me what happened that caused a distance between me and some people who work in the office, she said that I am welcome to chat and tell jokes with them as they do when the boss is out. I told her that thatis not my style, but I am not a party crasher either, so if they do so it is their own business.

She asked if it has to do with the problem I had with the werehouse manager and other questions, so I went straight ahead and told her that I am not confortable with the ambiance, and that I've recieved bad attitude from 4 people, she said that some people can't deal with the fact that I am gay. I though about it before, but now she confirmed it. She said that she is gay too and confessed that in the beginning she had a hard time for a couple of months. She offered me a lift and we talked more about it, she said that they are not educated people and that they can be rude on the outside, but nice in the inside. I told her that if people are agressive, unrespectful and give me attitude I won't be coming to them trying to be friends, so I prefer to do my job and stay away from trouble.

I am actually planning on looking for another job, because the place is far from home, the field won't add much to my carrer and because of the ambiance, i won't change this people and one is supposed to be happy at work. So I will do what I have to do, help them with the artwork concept and procedures and then talk with my boss; it will be hard for me, because he is a great guy, but he is surrounded by the wrong people. That sucks.
