I love College. I love Harvard. I love Home, too.

Ok, it's been an amazing... month or more since I last posted. I have so much to talk about. So here's how its gonna go. I'm gonna start with this weekend, then work backwards until I get bored. It will be like that Seinfeld episode where they
start at the end and work backwards! Fun!!

Thanksgiving!

I was really surprised at how good it felt to be back home again. I don't really miss home that much when I'm at school, but seeing my family and friends and West Sand Lake and Ti all still just the same as they always were was really nice. Also, my second cousin Ashley was staying with us, because she was recovering from surgery on a burst ovarian cyst. that was cool as well. I haven't seen her since I was little. On the way home, I couldn't get on the 5:30 bus, so I stood in the bus station and juggled while I waited for the 8:00 bus. I put a hat out in front with money in it, and received exactly $0.00. Anyway, I got a lot of good practice and learned some new tricks.

Harvard-Yale, bitches!!

WE WON!!! In TRIPLE OVERTIME!! 30-24!!! Pretty sloppy football on both sides, but I guess the Harvard Football team sucks slightly less than the Yale team. I was in the Halftime show, in front of 52,000 people (for two schools that aren't big football schools, Harvard-Yale is a surprisingly huge deal). My roommate Matt (who is in the Harvard Band) told me that the prop crew (who do the halftime show) needed extra people. So I went down 2 minutes before halftime, and they handed me a crimson sword and told me to help carry the big 'trojan bulldog' they had made. We carried it out and into the gates of the 'Fortress Yale' and then, as the band played, we jumped out and knocked down the fortress and the people dressed up as Yalies and took a big victory lap around the stadium.

Before (and during) the game, there were these huge tailgates, with more booze than I've ever seen in one place in my life. It was a little weird drinking at 10 AM, but once I got used to the idea, it was fun.

The night before, Glee Club had our Harvard-Yale football concert. It was a lot of fun, and the concert went really well. Yale tried to make some really lame skit to make fun of us, but got crickets in the audience, as well as a bunch of catcalls from the Glee Club alums and Harvard kids in the audience. "BORING!!" "I'M CONFUSED!!" It was awesome. Also, during their football songs, when they asked Yale Glee Club Alumni to come up and sing with them, a couple guys in our Glee Club snuck up on stage and pretended to sing with them. It was hilarious, because there were all these motions and they were always a second behind everyone else on stage. My parents, and Hannah and Helena and a couple of their friends came as well. It meant a lot that they drove up to see me.

The Academic Male-Voice Choir of Helsinki...
are the coolest guys in existence. They had a concert with us, then we went out to a bar and ate and had beer and chilled vodka. When they drink, they sing. They have a little book filled with Finnish drinking songs, and a whole organized system of when to sing them. Totally badass. That was a fun night. Also, we got serenaded by 4 drunken Finns singing a barbershop version of the song 'Enormous Penis' by Davinci's Notebook. If you've never heard it, check it out. It's hilarious

My Classes

So I got like an 86 on my first Bio midterm, which I thought was so easy. I just got shafted on one of the questions, though. My second midterm, which I actually studied for, I got a 147/150. Its awesome, but it also proves that studying works, which I resent.
Expos is really fun, except for the writing part. My essays have been mediocre, but I've made some good friends in my class, and we listened to Wesley Willis last week.
My seminar is awesome as always, and I've already learned more spanish in a semester than you'd learn in two years of high school spanish probably.

Harvard-Princeton Concert

Our first big Glee Club Concert. I had a solo in Glee Club Lite. I sang 'Yesterday' in front of like 700 people. I was so nervous that my knees were shaking and I had absolutely no saliva in my mouth. Despite that, it went really well. Everyone I knew came up and congratulated me afterwards. It was great.

Anything else? umm... I joined the Harvard Juggling Club, which is a ton of fun, and I've learned how to pass clubs. I was on the Canaday Intramural frisbee team, too. We went to the semifinals in the Freshman IM playoffs. I'm probably forgetting a ton of things, but this entry is huge already. Overall, college is amazing. There's so much to do all the time, and so many fun and interesting and smart people to hang out with. I love it here!!
