a little story...

so there once was a girl on the last day of school for the seniors. this girl was a senior and really hadnt thought about much of anything the entire year. she went to school in her little black dress and favorite necklace. she went to band. found out she matched the girl next to her. was rather numb. went to her next class. did some homework. went to homeroom. went to her next class. and on the way she saw another girl, a girl a year younger and the girl in the black dress felt like crying. then the girl in the black dress borrowed a bracelet from the younger girl. the entire day the girl in the black dress twirled the bracelet around her wrist, wanting to feel something solid. about half way through the day she went home and got her year book. she went back to school. in her class, the teacher made all the underclassmen leave and told them how much he is going to miss them. she cried and held onto the bracelet. in the cafeteria, she had some kids sign her yearbook. she went outside looking for a few other kids, and found them sitting in a circle out on the field. she walked over and was allowed to join the circle because she was wearing black. in the circle they were listening to music. the girl in the black dress had three other people sign her yearbook. they looked through the pictures. she went back inside. she read a note from one boy:

things i wont forget:
-that time at the knights of colombus show when we had an AMAZING conversation about lots and lots of stuff.
-meeting for ice cream at the end of last summer.
-your smile and charisma
-YOU!!!

and she cried. she ran back outside and across the field. the boy who had written the note wasnt wearing a shirt and was very sweaty. she hugged him anyway. in the art room another girl signed the yearbook, and the girl in the black dress realized that she had had a very good friend that she never knew about before. at the end of the day the girl in the black dress watched her classmates count down. calmly she looked at them. hugged them. she found the younger girl and gave back the bracelet. the girl in the black dress went home and thought about the girl with the bracelet, the boy who had written the note, and the girl who had been her friend all along. and she smiled. and then she felt red-hot tears coursing down her face. and she thought about how she had turned in upon herself the past year. and how much she loved those two girls and that boy.
