Movie Review: The King's Speech

Feb 15, 2011 22:25

I finally got around to watching this movie!

The previews:

Lot of the same stuff as the previous movies save for a Yu-Gi-Oh 3D movie (0_o), Cedar Rapids (love Ed Helms but probably won't watch), and Rabbit Hole (really want to see but not with mother. The subject matter will kill her).

The Good:

-The Oscar is good as Colin Firth's. Honestly, he was everything I expected him to be and then some. He did so well with the stammering and his nerves and...gah, it's all amazing.
-Actually, the acting in general was very good all around. Now I don't know if HBC deserves an Oscar nom for her role but she is splendid in it. So if Geoffrey Rush for that matter. I don't think he'll win the supporting actor trophy (I think that will go to Christian Bale) but it would be lovely if he did. But Colin steals the show. I think I'm in love.
-The story is pretty easy to follow and there are some humorous moments too.
-As much as I love seeing HBC play kooky roles, I also love when she plays more subtle characters like in here. She can pretty much do no wrong in my eyes.
-I pretty much fell in love with everything. Damn, I'm doing a horrible job of reviewing but it's true. I loved it all.

The Bad:

Honestly...I can't think of anything.

The Verdict:

Excellent movie. Watch it if you haven't yet. If you see any of the Oscar nominated films, see this one.

Grade:

A+/O+ in Harry Potter terms.

The best part: Hell, a lot of it.
The worst: Nothing coming to mind.
