Update on Thanksgiving or at least the day after. It will now be a dinner for 11-12 people and I am trying to think of how I can fit everyone comfortably, not to mention what everyone will actually do while waiting for everything to get ready. Josh's parents have some folding tables and chairs that we can borrow, but with such a wide variety of people coming, I don't know of one thing that we can all do to or talk about or even just watch that everyone would be interested in.
I searched Google for a good Thanksgiving movie that I could run in the background that people could watch if they wanted, but the only movies that came up were those about people who end up not being able to stand their parents or things that have nothing to do with Thanksgiving like Mighty Joe Young. I might just go with the movie "Hannah and her Sisters" because I have never seen it and because I like Woody Allen movies in general.
Other than that I have no clue what I could get everyone together on.... maybe a couple hands of poker.... maybe some team boggle.... Let everyone sleep off their Tryptophan trip? Which reminds me of something funny I once said, but then when I really thought about it, it wasn't that funny.
Because everyone coming to this event is very important in both Josh's and my life, I want them to get to know each other. So I hope that no one minds that I really want to ask, once we sit down to eat, what they are thankful for. I don't want to put anyone on the spot, but it seems like sometimes we lose out on remembering why we decided to all get together in the first place. When you hear someone talk from the heart, you feel connected to them in some way and I really hope I can do this. I will probably not go through with it, but who knows... I might just ask everyone individually if they mind or not. *shrugs*
But yeah any ideas on what to do would be appreciated.... maybe I should just skip celebrating the Thanksgiving holiday like everyone else seems to do and go straight to Christmas. It is sad that I cannot find a "Pumpkin Spice" candle for the life of me, but they have scents like "Mistletoe" and "Christmas Cookie" already on sale. Which, side note, I can't smell the difference in aroma from the "Christmas Cookie" to the "Sugar Cookie" smell.
Anyway, I am excited for everyone to be here and hope everyone leaves with full stomachs and happy hearts. I still have a couple surprises up my sleeves to accomplish this. *muahahaha* Just you wait....
