So, as many of you know, I stopped playing WoW about 6 months ago. The main reason was that most groups doing the content I wanted to do also required a minimum of 4 hours a night 3 nights a week raiding. I am not prepared to COMMIT to a part time job for my entertainment. I have been telling people I would probably come back when Catyclysm released.
Although, listenign to the Instance, I am not sure if I want to do that. I really like the idea of re-vamping the old world. But it sounds like they are also a complete overhaul of the game. They are redoing stats and gear and talents and well pretty much everything.
I have a fear this is going to alienate pretty much everyone. The old school players will hate the new changes and a lot of them will leave. Those that stay will alienate the newcommers because while the newcomers are slogging through the new content, the oldies will have +50% XP bonuses on their characters due to legacy gear (High level players can pass gear down to their alts that give XP bonuses and other stat improvements)
To add insult to injury, when you hit level 60-80 you have to go BACK to Burning Crusade and Northrend. I may rather claw my eyes out than go through Nagrand one more time.
I do like the LFG system for dungeons and stuff, but hear that once you hit 80 there is a real problem of being kicked if your gear score doesn't actually TRIVIALIZE the content in the dungeon. There is no reason to be in top end raiding gear to run heroic dungeons that are completable by beginnign level 80s.
So, it looks like Aion will be kicking around a while longer. They are supposed to have a huge upgrade to Aion, and it may be free. We'll see.
