When I last posted a ‘Tabula Avatar’ update I said that it was only the first part of a chapter. It was, however, 3,600 words long, and I had done some previous chapters that were only that length, and the prime reason for not classing it as a full chapter was that it didn’t end on a cliffhanger or a punch-line. Did you read the interlude 'Escape From Trademeet'? I had meant to tell you to read it with Chapter 33, as that's where it belongs chronologically, but I didn't get a chance.

For a while I just waited for update announcements on your website--I think you reached chapter 15 or 16, there? -Then I jumped into the piece again, and discovered you'd been very busy, indeed. Up to chapter 38! And it reads very well, too. As a fan of the game and the better class of BtVS fanwriting, it's a pleasure to see them come together so nicely ( ... )

Actually I've put up to Chapter 35 on my site but I've only included up to Chapter 14 in the 'Updates' index.

You won't be meeting Jan Jansen in this story, I'm afraid. I don't think that I could put him over very well and I never could fathom his 'The Hidden' sub-plot. The ingenious gnome is merely a generic gnome, and won't have a speaking part, although feel free to think of him as Jan if you like.

With regard to Tara and Willow's fast reconciliation, I was partly simply operating on a principle of 'Absence makes the heart grow fonder' and taking it that their enforced period of separation would have made them more likely to get back together, and partly going for the same thing as Joss went for with "There's just so much to work through. Trust has to build again, on both sides... you have to learn if... if we're even the same people we were, if you can fit in each other's lives, it's a long and important process and... can we just skip it? Can you... can you just be kissing me now?" Only without, of course, Tara being shot to ( ... )
