You won't be meeting Jan Jansen in this story, I'm afraid. I don't think that I could put him over very well and I never could fathom his 'The Hidden' sub-plot. The ingenious gnome is merely a generic gnome, and won't have a speaking part, although feel free to think of him as Jan if you like.
With regard to Tara and Willow's fast reconciliation, I was partly simply operating on a principle of 'Absence makes the heart grow fonder' and taking it that their enforced period of separation would have made them more likely to get back together, and partly going for the same thing as Joss went for with "There's just so much to work through. Trust has to build again, on both sides... you have to learn if... if we're even the same people we were, if you can fit in each other's lives, it's a long and important process and... can we just skip it? Can you... can you just be kissing me now?" Only without, of course, Tara being shot to death in the very next episode.
The issue of Randy's chip will surface in a future chapter.
Sometimes Giles' guitar will give them tremendous power - especially if he can plan in advance and select the right song for the occasion. Sometimes it won't. There are situations coming up in which Giles won't be able to think of any suitable song...
