"9000 Needles" Movie

Mar 08, 2011 23:20

We watched the movie, 9000 Needles, at our school on Friday, February 18, 2011.  It's a good movie about a stroke victim, Devin Dearth, going to China to receive treatment, because the U.S. healthcare system is very limited, especially when it comes to health insurance.

The movie is directed by his brother, Doug, who was at the screening to answer questions.  In China, Devin received acupuncture, herbs, and various other Oriental Medicine treatments.  They sure used more needles, cups, and other methods of treatments in China than we do in the U.S.  Then again, acupuncture started in China thousands of years ago.

Some parts of the movie are emotional, but I think other stroke victims and people in healthcare should watch it.  The movie is not available for rent, but you can buy it online.  More information can be found at the 9000 Needles website.
