Class Hours: MTh 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM
Course Description: Basic Chemistry should introduce us to the world around us in a new and exciting way, on the atomic and chemical level. We only see the results of their interactions with our eyes, but through studying the basics of chemistry we will see how pieces of our world have come to be, what makes it and us tick.
Required Texts: I will select an appropriate text from the bookshelf each week. Because we are so few in number, distribution of texts should not be a problem.
Methods of Instruction: Class time will be devoted mostly to discourse. I will present topics, but I encourage questions and observations and conversation. Mondays will always be spent on lectures, and Thursdays, when we can, will be experiment day. Homework will always be due on and reviewed on Mondays, but it is your job to read the text and keep up with the concepts whenever works for your study habits.
