SPEED READING
Class Hours: TF 7:30-9:00 PM
Course Description: Speed reading is designed to teach students another way of processing information in written form. The focus on the course will be comprehension, so often forgotten in attempts to read quickly, as well as speed.
Required Texts: I will take selections from various books to provide for a varied and robust practice for everyone. I will hand these out at every class, meant to be read before the next class, so no one tries to skip ahead.
Methods of Instruction: Class time will be spent on exploring different speed reading techniques and overcoming the obstacles we encounter in our efforts to increase our speed. Homework is intended as practice for these methods and strengthening the skills we acquire in class.
