So I woke up this morning and I had to pee. So, I went. Then I still felt like I had to pee. That was weird. So, I go and check my email and I get this tight feeling in my back below my ribs. I stretch my back, and it doesn't feel much better, so I go lay down. I'm laying down and thinking, "Crap! Not another back spasm! I haven't had these in over a year!" So I get this horrible pain in my back, take some of the muscle relaxer they gave me when it happened before, and tried to tough it out. Yeah, after about 45 mins (and almost throwing up) I kinda knew something ELSE was wrong. I called a cab and went to the hospital. I actually made it to a bed in the ER pretty quick. Only took like 5 mins! But then waiting in the bed (not ROOM--bed in the hallway with a curtain barely big enough to fit around it)... Oh my god. It took so long. It seemed even longer because I was in the most excruciating pain I've ever been in. EVER. I had to wait a really long time for a nurse to see me. Then she said she'd find someone to give me an IV. Before the guy showed up, I started puking. It was gross. I hadn't eaten anything so it was just bile. Yuck. So anyway, that guy came and poked me, blowing the first vein he tried. And then got the second one with relative ease. He drew some blood and then put me on a drip. BUT NO MEDS! I had to see the doctor first! And the doctor took a long time to get there. I puked a couple times between then and when she came. When she came she gave me morphine and something anti-inflammatory. Morphine is ridiculous. Holy shit. Then the little IV guy came back and said he had to draw some blood because my other blood clotted or something. So, he pokes my in my good blood-drawing vein. Nothing. Then he pokes me like where you get a TB test done on your forearm (for all of you who have had one). Nothing. Then he just decides to take it from my IV. THANKS LITTLE MAN FOR STICKING ME TWICE BEFORE DOING THIS! Oh well, I didn't care. I was high as a kite. :-) Then I wait. I had to get a CT scan because they needed to check for a kidney stone. I still thought I was just having horrible back pain. What kind of 21-year-old gets kidney stones? So, I get my CT scan, get some more morphine when I get back from it, and wait some more. Then, the resident comes and tells me I have a kidney stone! It's just about to go into my bladder which means it will take about another 2-3 days to pass. So, my mom is coming to pick me up and I'm going home for the weekend for her to take care of me while I'm all drugged up on Vicodin, prescription-strength motrin and Flomax (Yes, it's a medicine for enlarged prostate. Yes, the pharmacist had to call the doctor to make sure she knew I wasn't a 70 year old man. And yes, it will make the stone easier to pass. :-P) So, yeah. How lame is that? Oh, wait. It gets lamer. Apparently, kidney stones aren't one of those get-it-once-and-it's-out-of-the-way things. Yeah, I'm probably going to get them the rest of my life. Man, I suck. My mom always calls me a hypochondriac, but seriously, I'm sick all the time. Blah. Anyway, I'm going to go take a Vicodin now and wait for my mom to get here. :-D Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee...
