It was glorious day. The Earth Kingdome hadn’t been destroyed, Ozai had been defeated, everything had worked out well. And everyone was excited to see their family. It had felt like eternity, being away from their homes and loved ones for so long. Everyone was joyful except for Toph. She was even more grumpy than usual.
It was much easier for the rest of the group to go their separate ways, Toph thought. She wasn’t sure if she wanted to return to her own home. It was her parents that were the problem. She missed them dearly, but she was afraid they would cage her up again. She was afraid she would never get to see her friends ever again. She was conflicted.
Her friends noticed and asked why she seemed uneasy, and she explained her feelings. They just told her that the war being over will have changed things. That her parents would have to respect her independence now.
Changed? Thing may have changed for them, but it was different for her. Her parents were weird. They were stubborn and did not like to change. Even after such a large event like war ending she doubted it would be much different.
It was for the best that she went, perhaps they did changed, she had to find out either way. She hoped if it fell though that Aang would hold up his promise and rescue her again from the misunderstandings of her parents.
