Zuko was starting to annoy her. Here she had handed him everything he had ever wanted on a silver platter, and he was still upset and surly. She still couldn’t get him to obey her as Mai did.
When Azula felt like this, she did the one thing that always cheered her up: tormenting prisoners. While the Fire Nation prisons were chocked full of prisoners, she only saw the ones she had captured. They feared her more, it was, nice.
“So how’s my favorite prisoner doing?” Azula asked as she rounded the corner and found herself at Suki’s cell.
Suki grunted and turned to face the wall. She hated when Azula paid her a “visit.”
“Oh come now,” Azula said mockingly. “Is that any way to treat a princess? Especially one who is responsible for the nice roof over your head, and the three meals a day you get?”
Suki frowned. She was imprisoned against her will, and the food was horrible.
“You know if you frown long enough, your face will stick that way,” Azula said with a cruel smile. “It’d be a waste of a pretty face.”
Suki sighed; she hated it when Azula mocked her appearance. As if she wasn’t suffering enough.
“Suki, Suki Suki,” Azula said, as if she were close to the other girl. “What can I do to bring a smile back to your face?”
“Die,” Suki spat.
“Why would you want me to do that?” Azula asked, the way a mother asks a two year old about their motives after an outburst.
“I hate being in this prison,” Suki said, a mixture of anger and desperation in her voice. “I hate eating the crappy prison food, I hate it when you come here to mock me.”
“Oh poor you,” Azula said in the most sarcastic voice. “You have to put up with me, oh the horrors of horrors.”
Suki grumbled silently, trying to just ignore the princess.
“Your boyfriend wants me,” Azula said confidently, she didn’t like to be ignored. “I can tell by how he looks at me.”
The Kyoshi warrior gave Azula a look that said “I wasn’t born yesterday.”
“He’s never once mentioned you,” Azula purred. “I’m being completely honest here.”
Suki really hated Azula.
