A childhood dream come true

This is going to sound very strange to many of you, but ever since I was a little girl I've wanted glasses. About 5th grade, all my friends started getting them for whatever reason, and I was jealous. My parents even took me to the optometricist, only to hear that I had perfect vision and probably wouldn't ever need glasses. Of course, I was heartbroken. Have you ever seen the clear sunglasses at like, walmart? They look just like real glasses, but they're just for fashion purposes. I should've had stock in those because I had 500 pairs.

Since I started college and working at the Senator's office, I've been having trouble with my eyes losing focus after about an hour of continuous use. My headaches have become more frequent and I'm extra exhausted by the end of the day. My grandma finally made me an eye doctor appointment and I went in for an exam today.

Turns out, I have an astigmatism and a focusing problem lol If I read or use the computer for long periods of time, my vision blurs and I can't distinguish between the type and the background. Being a college student, there's no way I can avoid long hours of focus work. So, Dr. Cosgrove prescribed me reading glasses. As you can imagine, I am very very excited about this!

I also have a distance problem in my left eye, but he said at this point my right eye is compensating nicely for it so it's not something to worry about right now.

So, in about 1 weeks time, I will be the proud owner of a new pair of glasses. Yay me!

On other fronts, I purchased a bedroom set this weekend for the new house from Art Van. I'm very excited about it. The headboard (or bed wall as it's called) has lots of cubbies for storage and night stands built in. It's beautiful, and I got it super on sale. It's going to be a tight squeeze in the room I think, but really, how much space to you need in a room made for sleeping, right? lol We have the extra space in the house that we can have a study room or whatever. The curtains and the sheets I bought for the new bedroom came today. The comforter sets on backorder, but I can't wait to get it.

We're signing the lease on Monday. Then, the house will be officially ours for August 1, 2007. I get butterflies in my stomach when I think about it. Life is falling into place.

Classes start on Monday and I think I'm ready. I'm only taking 3 classes this semester, so it will be a nice change... I'm so sick of school and I think taking the lighter load will make my remaining time more enjoyable, even if it does take a bit longer.

Well, my eyes are tired (haha, but that's not going to happen anymore!) so I'm off. Happy New Year everyone!
