Chapter- Prologue/?
“James come away from there” his father said sternly as his small son began to feed some of the small sparrows that had gathered outside his window.
“But father they’re hungry” James said as he quickly gave the birds the rest of his biscuit.
“I said come away from there” the older man said angrily as he grabbed his eight year old son by the arm and flung him away from the window.
James cried out as he hit the opposite wall and fell to the floor with a loud thud. “Mommy” James called out weakly.
“Now, now little one you know full well that your mother won’t help a sniveling child like you” his father said cruelly.
“Please father, don’t, I just wanted to feed the sparrows” James stuttered out fearfully. The man kicked James in his small chest causing the boy to cough harshly.
“You’ll never become an Admiral by feeding sparrows boy.”
“Y-yes sir” James coughed as he wiped away his tears and tried to sit up, but the pain in his ribs was too great. So there he lay as his father walked over to the window and shooed the little sparrows away.
“You’re to never open this window ever again do you understand me boy?” his father growled.
James could only nod; he saved his breath for breathing only. “That’s a good little one” the Lutinant said with a wicked grin as he pushed the window closed and locked it.
The young boy began to cry as soon as his father had shut and locked his door tight. Stumbling to his feet he slowly made his way to his window.
Making sure his father wouldn’t burst back in at any second he pecked behind the curtains to see one little sparrow still sitting on the ledge of his window, starring curiously at him.
“Go on, you shouldn’t be here” James whispered to the bird who only cocked its head to the side in confusion.
“A sparrow like you shouldn’t be hanging around a cage like mine” James said as he stared fondly out into the horizon.
“No sparrow should ever be caged” he whispered as he watched the small sparrow fly off his window sill into the freedom James so greatly desired.
Yay my first Sparrington ever! PLease comment and tell me if it's horrible or not.
