FC Log #2

So a whole convention day passed without me adding any commentary onto it. I'll do my best to sum it up.

So Saturday was quite a different day. Woke up in the morning and tried out The Pita Pit with Kevin. Pretty good gyros, though I recommend getting salad and spinach so the meat doesn't come out too salty, as was in Kevin's case. Pretty decent, though a little expensive. The pitas are, in fact, rather massive, so I think it's quite worth the money. I tried to go to one of the first panels of the day, the Instrumental Sight Reading panel in the Club Regents room, but when we got there, the time had been pushed back one hour to 10am. The guy who was hosting it wasn't notified of the change either, so it was canceled. Sucked.

We checked out the Dealer's Room as it was after 11am at this point, and the entire line that went around the corner was gone. It was nearly impossible to look through the tables, so we decided to come back later. Saw kitsumi there, and 4eyedkurisu was going to arrive later. I'm still thinking of buying stuff, but I'm not sure if I should. Money is quite an issue at the moment.

So I went over to the Creator's Corner and found Raymond there. He drew his badge. I sat around there for a while, then went to the Canines panel, which was led by a backup host, whose character was a dragon. It was interesting hearing "origin" stories on how certain furs chose canines. I didn't share. Next time I might.

Went back to the Creator's Corner and tried to draw some stuff. Time passed, and eventually a new acquaintance/friend came in. Mark, a Scottish guy, was visiting California for FC and is going down to Hollywood sometime soon. Amazingly enough, his accent was relatively easy to understand, and he was a pretty nice guy. Very artistically-inclined and pretty good with backgrounds. His furry style is more of the "toony" sort of style, somewhat related to Raymond's. We ate at Johnny Rocket's the night before and got to know him a little better. So I met him at the Creator's Corner that evening and we had McDonald's for dinner after ridiculing how someone left a sign, requesting that people draw "young gay male porn" in his tiny 5"×5" sketchbooks. Hilarious stuff.

Mark and I wandered around for a bit after that, and we were going to meet up with Raymond and his friends, but it turned out that they were meeting to eat, which we had already done. We wandered around a little, and went to the Adult Dragon Panel down in the Club Regents room; I went to see if I could find Kevin there, but I couldn't find him so we left and went back up to the Creator's Corner. I stayed there for the rest of the night and drew my "Dee-colon" picture.

--- ---- ------

This morning, Kevin and I met Khaiel (pronounced "kale") and his friend at Peggy Sue's for breakfast. I went to check on my car after to make sure it was still there, and I'm sure it'll still be there tomorrow. I also saw a_husky there for an instant while heading to the Creator's Corner, which was packed as ever. I did my best to work on Leon's commission; all I need to do now is upload it. I'm just not entirely sure if I'm officially finished with it, however...it doesn't feel finished, yet I can't really see what else I need to add to it.

I attended the Life Drawing panel today, and got to sketch quite a number of poses over a 1.5-hour time period. It was probably the most educational panel I've attended so far in any convention, really. And the first time I've seen a naked guy standing on a table. The assistant in that panel, who was walking around and making sure that we were truly serious artists is actually one of my favorite artists, though he doesn't upload much. The host was Ken-Jo on FA and the assistant was SethPup on FA.

Since then, I pretty much stayed at the Creator's Corner because I couldn't find anybody, and anybody I could call was busy at the time and would rather not have me around. So I kinda got a little depressed and headed back to the hotel room for a short 2-ish-hour nap. Went back to the Creator's Corner after letting Kevin back into the room (met him at the crosswalk on the way back), and did my best to draw something. Drew one thing that was kinda depressing so I could at least get it out of my system, and then played some Typing of the Dead to get my mind off of things...then I figured that I should try to submit something for the next Califur, which is post-apocalyptic-themed. In the process of making a Typing of the Dead-ish picture. Hopefully nobody's come up with one yet.

And now I need to shower and sleep. We have to check out by noon and start driving people back to where they live.
