I don't think taking something more advanced would be showing off, just something you are capable of doing .. take something you'll enjoying working on!
After all, you might be able to lend a hand to somone less experienced if they see your level of expertise.
Something you like, something you enjoy doing or making, of course! What fun is it to pretend you aren't as capable as you are? And what good is it to anyone else, if they figure you're no more experienced or skilled as they? Beside that, *always* be yourself. Part of that self is what you've practiced and learned.
If you've already got a project underway, take that (unless it has to be kept as a surprise.) If there's something you've been waiting to start, perhaps now is the time. Go, sweetie, and have fun!
I say bring whatever you want to actually work on there, whether that's particularly advanced or not. Christmas is coming, so bring a present to make. :)

Neil ALWAYS had a book on him. He was famous for sitting in a corner reading at all family parties..
