Summer of Bale, what?

On top of seeing The Dark Knight *coughtwicecough* and re-watching a few old favorites -- American Psycho, Rescue Dawn, and Velvet Goldmine -- I've come into possession of three Christian Bale DVDs that weren't previously on my shelf. It's possible he's usurped Johnny Depp's title as Most Featured As Lead Actor In Magz's DVD Collection.

Today alone, I watched Empire of the Sun for the first time EVAR, and OMG wee!Bale acted his tiny, adorable HEART out in that one, didn't he? And to follow it up, I popped in The Machinist. I had a serious time distinguishing between emaciated!Bale and hot!Bale a few times during the movie, and watching interviews later, where he's speaking in an American accent, was kinda surreal. I hear that he tries to duplicate his character's accent for interviews, so it doesn't confuse people or something. :| WE'RE NOT DUMB, MR. BALE.

I also have long, tangenty thoughts about the altercation with his mother and sister, but what it boils down to is A. I'm not at all shocked or appalled that he lashed out at them after they cornered him in a paparazzi-swarmed hotel, made seriously disparaging comments about his wife, and demanded money so his sister could raise her kids [OMG GET A JOB], and B. really, whether he yells at/hits women or eats babies or whateverthefuck really isn't why I'm interested in him. It's because he's a HOTASS, and he's fucking AMAZING at what he does. End of story.

Harsh Times is still sitting on my new DVDs pile for tomorrow. I'm possibly equally excited about Freddy Rodriguez in this one as I am about Señor Bale himself.
