So, it hasn't even been a week since I passed off Mr. Laptop IV to my mom -- I did it YESTERDAY, in point of fact. And in the time since I gave her the computer, a key has already been popped off the keyboard. Not from her own abuses, no. No, this was my nephew, who was watching DVDs on it yesterday. He apparently decided, "Hmm, F key. Nobody uses that!" and pried it up. :| AWESOME.
And since it happened yesterday, he totally won't remember, because he'll have gotten into so much mischief since then that damaging the computer will be a blur to him. It'll be no use scolding him. Dammit. $25.94 on the credit card later, we've got a new HP dv1000 keyboard on its way from an eBay seller in Hong Kong. At least fiareynne knows how to install the thing, so I don't have to go to the Geek Squad to get it done.
