modern stays

As the week continues to be dull and grey, I am resolved to brighten it up with an image a day! My 5 beautiful girls and 5 gorgeous corsets for 5 days of the working week. Today, the stunning SamiO in a contemporary take on short stays.

Sigh, I do love greens and golds... (CREDITS: Sean Elliott Photography and SJE Make-up)
This piece was developed after my first two corset bodies. I wanted to create a shape that accentuated an athletic figure rather than cinching the waist right down. I draped out a rough stays pattern, then the crotch and hips.

A combination of steel and artificial whalebone supports the shape, with silk damask, satin ribbon, and bronze kid leather providing the pretties.

I won't lie, I love this corset body! It's cool worn over a lace body, but I reckon it would also be great over bare skin and brightly contrasting lingerie, for the very daring among you! There's something kind of powerful about the cut of this corset, and I'm already dreaming up different details and fabrications. For example, an old black leather jacket is sitting cut in pieces as we speak... I'm thinking that a black version with some sort of burnished gold effect and more vertically placed straps could be amazing.

I'm desperate for the chance to remake this in different shades of damask too (hint hint). Blue/gold would be incredible...
