Not so much an idea for an invention or anything, but I would like to see someone do a study on how the computer age has affected people's names. For example, since many older and even some modern databases refuse to accept the apostrophe as part of a name, how many people with names like O'Riley, O'Connor, D'Amato, etc. have taken to omitting the apostrophe so often that it has become accepted as the norm and is listed that way in public records. When I am laid to rest, will my tombstone say O'Quinn or OQuinn?
Addendum
It goes a little further than that. I can't express the exasperation and frustration I get every time I find appointments, reservations, tickets that I have ordered or purchased are not correct. How often has Kevin B. O'Quinn found himself recorded as Kevin O. Quinn or Kevin B Oquinn or Kevin Quinn etc. It has gotten to the point that I am more surprised when a reservation is correct than when it is not.
