Movie Review: Ruins
Jan and I went to see The Ruins. It was an interesting horror type of movie with a little blood. The movie revolved around a group of vacationers who volunteer to join an archaeological dig at a newly discovered Mayan pyramid.
When they arrive, the other members of the group who preceded them are not to be seen anywhere. As they are getting ready to climb the ivy covered pyramid, some local native show up and start shouting at them in an unknown language (neither English nor Spanish). When one of the group steps on the temple and amongst the vines, the natives become violent and shoots one of them. They will not let the group leave and force them to the top of the pyramid.
As the story develops, we learn that the ivy plants are carniverous and the natives will not let anyone who has come in contact with them leave for fear that the vines will get away from the pyramid where they are trapped.
I would suggest waiting for this one to come out on HBO and save yourself the cost. It is worth seeing, but not paying too much for.
