Goodbye 2012

Jan 03, 2013 14:49

It has been a very busy couple of weeks to round out the 2012 year.  The biggest news is that Jan is pregnant and we have another little one on the way (due in August).  Neither of us was expecting that.  We weren't trying for one, but neither were we trying to avoid it.  We just let come what may.
Jan and I were laughing that when this one comes along, we will have to schedule our annual family vacations in September so that starting in April we will have something to celebrate every month for 6 months straight.  Anniversery, my birthday, Jan's birthday, Corey's birthday, new baby's birthday and then vacation.
We are hoping for a girl.  We had talked about having another baby but we were leaning towards adoption (since Jan was adopted, we kinda wanted to repay the favor forward).  Now we get to play the name-game again as we browse through names that we like.  We haven't settled on anything yet.  So far, when it comes to girls names, I have come up with a short list consisting of Robin, Willow, Wendy, Dixie and of course we both have grandmothers named Pearl so that one automatically makes the list.  For boys, we are still working on our short list.  I haven't gotten very far through the alphabet on boys' names but I like Archer, Blaze and Buzz (I'd like to see how some of my UGA friends and family deal with that one).  Jan hasn't had a chance to look at names yet.  Corey keeps her pretty busy during the day and the only reason I have a chance to look at names is because I stay up until almost 11pm at nights and also I have an hour for lunch at work.
At work things have been hectic as well.  But we did manage to get that prototype out on the accellerated schedule so the money we get for it falls on the 2012 balance sheet. It was a hard push too.  We had people working 6 or 7 days a week for almost 2 full months.  And now that it has been crated up and shipped out, a lot of people are taking a much needed vacation.  This last week it has been like a ghost town at work.
Then we find out that my mom fell and broke her hip.  She had the accident the day after Christmas and bless her heart, she refused to tell anyone so as not to ruin the holiday.  I fully understand that.  It sounds like the kind of thing I might do.  Why bother people with something like that if there is nothing they can do about it?
Now we are beginning a new year.  Let's hope 2013 turns out well.

family, baby, work
