Relatively speaking this was pretty true to the general story line although some liberty was taken with circumstances and subplots. All in all, though I enjoyed the movie. A lot of care was put into re-creating the 1940s decor and such. Bucky was there, but unlike the comic storyline, Bucky does not don a costume and become Cap's sidekick. He does die as in the comic though the circumstances are not the same.
I was quite pleased by the selection of Hugo Weaving for he part of the Red Skull, Captain America's nemesis. Hugo first won my admiration as the evil "Agent Smith" in The Matrix and also as "Elrond" in The Lord of the Rings. He is an excellent actor.
I suggest that the purist will be satisfied paying full price at the theater for this movie. Captain America fans as well as Avenger fans and pretty much any Marvel (or DC for that matter) fan who likes this kind of stuff will not be disappointed. If you find you can stand the wait, hold off for the DVD or Pay-per-view.
