Well, the ice storm that was supposed to shut down the whole world did not materialize here last night. We got the freezing rain, but the temperature got up to a toasty 37 by dawn, so schools are open for business.
This is good for me, since I have to finish up my father's commission today, which could have been awkward to do if he'd been puttering around the house all day. I tell you this to tell you why there will not be a sketch for the blog today. I'm really sorry guys. I have to finish this because tomorrow morning I go on a family road trip, and I need to get the files to the printers by tonight.
It's an odd dynamic. You put something off, and then as you're working, you look at what you're doing and say, "Huh. This isn't too bad, I wonder how much better this would have been if I'd been 'responsible' and started this months ago?" The answer, I tell myself, is that IT WOULD HAVE BEEN WORSE. Since I would have the chance to second-guess and over-think everything, I think this way forces me to go with my instinct (and a few shreds of artistic advice I've gotten from others that I can still remember).
Another 10 hours should see me done with this, I hope. Have a happy Friday. I promise a really good drawing to make up for the missed one today. Sorry, internet guys and gals.
