I'm not a sucker for anything acoustic.

My friend, Jane, has Muscular Dystrophy and is in a wheelchair so I help her get ready for bed a few times a week. She used to live on campus, but she stopped going to school early in the semester because it got to be too hard for her, so now she lives at home with her parents and older brother.

Her brother has asked me out a few times since I've been going over to the house to help Jane. I have said no every time. I thought I had made it clear that I am there to help Jane and spend time with Jane, but apparently I have failed at that.

Last night I went over to help her as per normal. While Jane and I were on our way back to her room after her shower her brother stopped us. Holding his guitar, he asked me, "Have you ever heard me play my guitar?" I replied, "No, I haven't." Then Jane and I preceded to enter her bedroom. With Jane in her towel, waiting to get ready for bed, he then stood in the doorway so we couldn't close it, and said, "Let me play it for you." I said, "No thanks, I have to help Jane." The rest of the conversation went like this:
Jane's brother: " Come on, hear me."
Me: "No, I have to help Jane."
Jane's brother: In a more stern voice, "Hear me."
Me: "No. I have to help Jane."
Jane's Brother: In an even more stern and unsettling voice, "Hear me."
Me: In a more stern voice, "No. I have to help Jane."
Jane's Brother: Still in a stern voice that made me feel uneasy, "Fine. Hear me after you help Jane."
Me: Not wanting to prolong the conversation, and just get back to helping Jane, "We'll see."

Then I walked up and shut the door. Jane and I give each other, "what was that all about?" looks and then we shake it off and I continue to help her get ready for bed. Then we hear her brother playing the guitar, rather loudly, right outside of her bedroom. Jane asked me for her phone, and I gave it to her. She tried to call someone but it didn't go trough, so I asked her who she was calling. She said she was calling her mom (who was upstairs) so I asked if everything was alright. Jane told me she was scared about how her brother was acting, and honestly, I was too. Then we hear him say in a loud voice, "It was so easy for me to pick up and learn the guitar on my own since I have such a musical background." like he was making sure I heard that statement that I assume he thinks I would be impressed by. And he walked away. So we decided to let it be and again, continue getting Jane ready for bed.

While getting something for Jane from the dining room, I heard her brother playing his guitar on the porch. This unnerved me, thinking that he might be out there waiting to catch me as I leave. When I got back into the room Jane asked me to get her mom so she could ask her a question. Her mom was sitting at the computer by the front door, so Jane's brother heard me ask her to come to Jane's room. While Jane, her mom, and I were talking, he walked into the room and said, "It was too bad you didn't get to hear me play my guitar." then he paused and said in an overly excited voice, that again creeped me out, "Did you, did you hear me play?" And Jane and I both said, "Yeah, we heard you play when you were outside of the door." I went right back to talking to Jane and her mom as he persisted to try to talk to me, but I had had enough for the night and ignored him.

I am starting to get scared. I'm scared that he will attack me or something if he somehow gets me alone. Like if I put Jane to bed and her parents aren't there. He has been polite up until last night when he was so insistent on me hearing him play his guitar, and angry when I said no. So, up until last night, I had never worried about anything. I have always thought he was creepy, and thought it strange that he kept asking me out after I said no, but I never felt threatened before last night. Now I do.

I don't like this.
