I don't care much for small talk. I think I should be able to go through my work day without having to interact vocally with my annoying coworkers. My biggest trepidation in cutting my hair was not that I would miss having it long, but that I would have to deal with an endless stream of people at work commenting on it.
The comments ranged from the snide "looks like someone got their hair cut" from the #1 annoying coworker (delivered in her whiny, high-pitched Chinese voice) to the appropriate "nice haircut" from a few folks (to whom I should deliver cookies, or at least kudos, for knowing the right thing to say.)
What got to me the most were the two men, one who I see two or three times a week, the other who I see once a week, whose comment was actually a question. "Did you do something with your hair?" As if I had cut one inch from it instead of fifteen. Of course, I've never put much stock in their brain power.
And now, on to the world of hairpieces!
