Odd Balance

I've spent many days this week waiting for an email from a new friend, which never showed up. However, I received a phone call out of the blue from an old friend, which was the most pleasant surprise I've had in a long time. It was so difficult, though, to hear his voice only over the phone, as I wished instead that he was here beside me.
Two more weekends of baking sweets for my group at the faire. I appreciate their willingness to be my guinea pigs as I've experimented with recipes for tiramisu, spiced apple-pear pie, and homemade ice cream. Part of me wants to jump for joy that this is the last weekend in the seven deadly sins dessert scheme, and I won't have to bake any more, but the other part of me knows that I'm already planning to bring brownies and blondies as fuel for next Saturday's cleanup.
There are three things I am really looking forward to enjoying again once the faire is over: Saturday morning opera broadcast, Sunday morning baroque show, and the Long Beach Farmers' Market.
