Wow it's warm! I am not remotely a fan of the winter months but I have to confess this 90°F with 80% humidity thing is really hard to handle! Especially while moving!
Yes, you read that correctly: I am moving, into a wee little room in a house in my hometown, which will make my commute to and from work about thirty-five minutes shorter, aw yiss! And, even better, I can actually afford to live there!
The room itself will challenge my organizational skills, but the location is pretty great, and my housemates all seem cool. I found the place through an old housemate, a guy I lived with at the housing co-op eight years ago (wow), and the other two folks are PhD students.
A big reason why I am moving in this weekend is because I start a whole new shift at work, beginning Monday: mornings from 7:30 - 11:30, five days a week. It'll be the first week/weekend-defining period of my life since I graduated college, which should be an interesting mental adjustment. (When you're a farmer, or a full-time activist, TGIF doesn't mean anything bc you'll do pretty much the same thing on Saturday that you did for the previous six days of the week.) Getting up at 6:30 in order to be at work will also be quite the adjustment, but I'm looking forward to seeing the days begin again, and to being done with work by noon.
Another thing: I got my Tumblr blog back! *dances around the room* Tumblr Support indeed took forever (in Internet time) to get back to me, but once they did they were able to unlock the locked up features and get me access again quite quickly. WHEW.
And: Everyone on social media was talking about the Perseids again, and I want to say here that I fully intended to look out for them this year, except -- irony of ironies -- our drought-parched land finally began getting rain this week. It's rained almost every day, and has been hazy and cloudy even when it's not raining (did i mention the humidity), so I couldn't actually see much of the sky. Oh well! I decided to go out star gazing anyway, once the weather becomes more bearable. One doesn't need an annual meteor shower to enjoy staring up at the sky!
my life in summary,
weather: always exciting
