It's been quiet, here. This is a blessing, really. "No news is good news," as they say. The cross-border attacks that so disrupted villagers' lives last year (and for many years prior) did not manifest this year. The Iraqi Kurdish borders, at least, are calm. Alhamdulillah.
But sometimes I prefer activity, because at least when I'm active, I'm not thinking so actively. Does that make sense?

Well, tonight, to give myself something constructive to do, I once again made cookies. (Baking as self-care.
We've been here before.) I tried out the Post Punk Kitchen's recipe for
chocolate snickerdoodles, and while they didn't turn out quite like the picture, there, they're pretty tasty. (If you ignore the burnt bottoms. Our oven has two temperatures: on, and off.) They went together quite easily, too - I think if/when I make snickerdoodles again, I'll use this recipe. (I had to substitute the maple syrup for honey, and the almond milk for UHT dairy milk, so they weren't really vegan, but they're nearly vegan, and that's pretty cool, too.)
Yummy! ... The only problem is, I ate rather a large quantity of cookie dough in the process, and now I am Awake. Oh well! Another good thing about it being quiet around here is that I can catch a nap if I have to.
