Basically, I took my VCR out of the loop with the Tivo so that the Tivo connects to the TV in the back directly instead of through the VCR and then I split the cable at the back of the wall and had one piece go to the Tivo and once piece go to the VCR which I then attached to the TV through the input jack in the front of the TV. This is the input jack I use for the DVD player, too, so if I want to watch a DVD now, I have to make sure I'm not recording anything with the VCR during that time. Somehow I doubt I will be wanting to simultaneously record two shows and watch a third thing on DVD, so I think I'm safe. I tested it out last night and it is working.
Tivo's theory is that you can have your digital signal coming in through the Tivo and cable box and have an analog signal coming in through the split cable directly to the TV and you watch your second show by flipping channels on your TV directly while your Tivo records off the cable box. I figured I might as well hook the VCR in between the wall and the TV and record what was coming in on the analog signal. This means I only get basic cable on that side, but it covers Grey's Anatomy, which is my only conflict right now.
Yeah, the tennis ball thing is me standing against a wall with the tennis ball placed between me and the wall and I roll it around the area where I hurt and it massages and realigns things. It looks kinda funny to watch me do it at work, but it feels really good.
