First off, my vacation was lovely and very relaxing. Cape Cod was absolutely gorgeous and it was rather depressing to come back to New York. Unfortunately my cousin got sick so we had to skip our trip to the tattoo parlor. It turned out to be a lucky break because after thinking it over I decided if I'm going to do a tattoo I might as well go for it. I still wanted the bees but after much thought I decided I wanted a van Gogh inspired sunflower as well.
I searched for a tattoo shop through
Yelp and settled on
East Side Ink in the East Village. I went in with just that idea and CJay came up with the perfect design within 15 minutes. He had the time to do it so I just went for it and I couldn't be more pleased with the final result. I went bigger than originally planned but CJay warned that if I went too small I would lose the details on the bees. I wanted the tat on my hip so it was a bit weird to lay down on a table with my pants pulled down my hip in the middle of the shop but CJay was a total sweetheart and I was comfortable within minutes. I dragged
buildingupsteam for moral support but was surprised to find that it wasn't as painful as I thought it would be, I was actually quite relaxed throughout the whole process. I was warned by a friend that it could be addictive and I must admit that he was right, I'm already thinking of what I could get next.
