My first attempt at a Bronzino (mid-16thc) gown. I still kind of like the idea of embroidering over the existing design in this jacquard fabric, but I should have used better beads. And the ruching on the sleeves goes the wrong way. :P

Second try at a Bronzino gown. Got the sleeve ruching going the right direction! Skirt needs more fabric/different pleating, and something queer happened with the neckline. It slips on the shoulders even though it was cut the same way as the white one and has less weight in the sleeves, so color me perplexed. Hat turned out better, but probably still has issues. :)

corset for green dress. I plan on using this under next gown because it fits well, is comfortable, and was a PIA to make. I'll reconsider if there's a neckline difficulty.

Partlet from green dress and glass bead belt. The silk partlet fabric does NOT look sparkly/shiny in person, it's some kind of flash artifact. I thought the edge turned out well, but the fit is awkward and the silk requires a lot of pinning around the neckline of the dress to keep it from crawling all over.

My current plan is to make a practice camica out of the chemises I'm ripping to bits, and then make a practice gown out of some sort of dodgy but not bad looking cotton jacquard I have laying around. Something like this one, but not with extra little breastlets baring all above the neckline. What ARE those? I can wear it as tourney/camping wear, though it won't be 100% perfectly period. Then I'll invest in some linen and silk and do it again.
