So what we're looking at here is two aged and problematic chemises from back in the days when I didn't know how to make a proper Russian shirt. One has a drawstring neckline, from the days when everyone and their lady's maid had drawstring necklines. And stupid gold cuffs; don't ask what I was thinking, just know that I was thinking something and it obviously did NOT work out. The otherhas less stupid but still rather stupid cuffs and a banded neckline that didn't quite work. The gold sleeved one's sleeves were put on by some method that I as the sewer can't even identify at this remove. The banded collared one has more normal mitered on sleeves.
I want to rip them apart and recycle them into an Italian camica sorta like this one:
See Pic of Camica Here.
The fabric of each is sound and of the same type, with few permanent mud stains. The gold cuffed one is slightly yellowed, but I could solve any mismatch of color by tea-dying the finished garment to a nice shade of off white.
